This is a unit of work I created this year during Spring term 2 on: il y a/il n'y a pas, places, directions, and prepositions.
It is based on a video game that I played called Legend of Grimrock, an excellent dungeon-crawler on PC. I recorded myself playing and used sequences to create the lessons around it. The resources have had great sucess with the students in my school (especially boys!)
Example of activities you will find in the resources:
- Bingos
- Listening activities and extended reading ones.
- Speaking activities while monsters attack or writing activities while attacking the monsters.
- odd one out
- separate the sentence
- etc.
All resources are differentiated and have AfL activities included. Videos should be all ready to go in view mode and self-explanatory but please don't hesitate to contact me in case you need more information on how to run something.
Keep in mind that my school is an all-ipad school and this is why the powerpoint is linked to many online resources / games.
In addition to the powerpoint and videos, here are example of resources included in the pack:
- Ready listening made by a native speaker included in powerpoints
- Links to relevant Kahoot quizzes
- Links to relevant Quizlet vocab sets
The resources are in French but can be adapted to any languages, any year group, and potentially any topics if you are imaginative!

I didn't know what to expect but this series of lessons turns out to be incredibly innovative! My pupils love it, especially the boy, some of them even wants to start playing the game now! Outstanding resources. It gives me a perspective on resource I use everyday and it is impressive to see what some of us are able to create! Hope new ones come soon!
