This resource has been designed for Entry Level 3 students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Level 1 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, AQA, Highfield Qualifications, NOCN, Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate, 40-page workbook and a 100-slide PowerPoint lesson on 2D shapes.

These resource will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:

identify 2D shapes and to describe their properties
draw 2D shapes
identify parallel lines in 2D shapes
identify lines of symmetry in 2D shapes
identify right angles and angles of the same size in 2D shapes

The editable PowerPoint clearly explains 2D shapes, their properties and their lines of symmetry. It provides many opportunities for pupils to demonstrate their understanding of shape. It also contains links to 2 short videos on 2D shapes and lines of symmetry. It is ideal for introducing pupils to the shape component of the specification and for revision purposes.
