Lord Capulet's reaction to Juliet's 'death'

This lesson focuses on analysing the metaphorical language Lord Capulet uses and ends with an evaluative task considering the value of the scene.

It is useful for students to first complete the lesson on my page of how to analyse metaphors at a basic level as they should then understand the three parts of a metaphor and how to use the ‘metaphor river’ diagram to analyse metaphors, similes and personification. However, it’s not absolutely necessary as long as the teacher can explain the three parts himself/herself.

The final evaluative task is a diamond-nine sorting activity that challenges students to think more holistically about the scene’s place in the play.
