I was excited to find some pictures that the students could sort when learning about mitosis. I also like that there were titles for the phases as well as descriptions. However, as I started to use them with my students, there were a few problems that I found. The first few problems are formatting problems. In the color version it is hard to see the crossing over because the chromosome colors are so similar (blue & purple). The next problem I found was that the colored picture for Telophase I is different from the black and white version ( It was a picture of a the cell starting to go through cytokinesis. The B/W version show 2 complete cells) . The last problem I found was in the pictures for Prophase 2 and Metaphase 2. The picture for Prophase 2 shows the chromosomes lined up in the middle of the cell giving the appearance of being in Metaphase. The picture for Metaphase 2 shows sister chromatids separated and lined up in the middle. This gives the appearance of being in between Metaphase 2 and Anaphase 2 making it hard for students to sort them in the correct sequence. The last thing I would suggest that would add to the cards but doesn't have to be included would be whether the cell is diploid or haploid at the different stages of meiosis.
