Used with many of my pupils within my Secondary SEMH provision, I would like to share this intervention packs that has really helped to open up conversations about mental health with my most vulnerable pupils and support the recovery and resilience of those with mental health issues. This is a low level intervention pack to be used with students that may be showing signs of issues with their mental health. This is not therapy, but an educational approach to the prevention of poor mental health and to prevent the escalation of low level mental health problems. Not for pupils already undergoing specialist mental health support (avoids conflicting messages, reduces risk of disengaging from therapeutic support). The aim of this early intervention is to provide a safe environment for pupils to express how they are feeling. The aim is to support pupils to identify and label feelings, understand triggers and develop
knowledge of self-care strategies and self-regulation strategies to
support their own wellbeing. Supports the building of resilience.
The pack includes the following:

  • Initial feelings questionnaires/ thoughts about school questionnaires (SEND friendly)
  • Interventions
  • Self-care support
  • Action planning tool
