Newspaper Reports - Supermarket Waste

Spread over 3 weeks, this was used with Year 3 children to create newspaper reports about what their chosen Supermarket is doing to reduce waste. This was used towards the end of the year and was challenging - definitely suitable for upper KS2. Not all planning and resources included but there is information about what each of the big supermarkets are doing to reduce waste (data collected early 2018). Children used this to then create posters about their chosen supermarket (template included). After that we wrote our reports a paragraph at a time (SMART notebook included) then created captions for pictures (included). To finish they wrote them up on laptops to give a professional finish.

The children were amazed by what the supermarkets are doing and it made them a lot more conscious about what happens to their own waste.
