A short phonics session on adjacent consonant (day 2, phase 4).
* Starts off with a timer used for a quick recap of learnt phonemes.
* It then moves onto HFW.
* The following slide allows the children to read the words by segmenting and then blending (with the aid of sound buttons).
* Next the children are required to sort the words into real words and alien words (i.e. nonsense words).
*Make up silly words (using the phonemes and phoneme frame) for children to segment and blend
* Finally ask the children to read the sentence to apply their knowledge.
TIP: you can extend your lesson by providing the children an opportunity to write some of the words using their phonics skills.
