Are you looking for fun segmenting and spelling games for digraphs ck, ff, ll, ss, zz and qu? Get your reception children excited to read, segment and spell words with the letters on the dice. They will love these activities which will help them recognise the first digraphs they will probably learn and choose the correct letters to ‘build’ the word.
Why choose dice rather than get students to write? Some children at this age are reluctant to write but we still need them to practice spelling so playing engaging games solves this issue. Building words using these dice makes spelling fun.
Use these games to revise and consolidate learning about spelling digraphs in fun ways. This can be a big step up from reading CVC words as students have to recognize that 2 letters together can make 1 sound. They will become more confident and fluent in their spelling and reading as they recognize these digraphs quickly.

You will get:

70 words

  • with and without the vowel in a different colour for added support
  • with and without dots and lines under the letters and arrows to show the direction of blending the words
  • in colour and black and white
  • with a dyslexic font - these words also have less clipart and a pastel-coloured background to make it easier to read
    6 dice
  • 2 vowel dice
  • 4 consonant dice
  • a table with the words that are used
  • instructions on how to play the games
  • teaching notes
  • a card to score points won e.g. tally marks
