I get the class to make a colourful A3 table with tests and expected results for all the homologous series. We also discuss how you tell the different between alcohols/acids and alkanes/alkenes using IR (give them copies of the spectra in ppt).
This worked really well - I told them to stick the posters on the ceiling over their heads - lol

As a student, I have to say that this kind of revision technique does NOT work and you would be better off spending your time teaching. Resource itself is not too bad though.
