At last! Musicbuds is here offering an exceptional range of original and well-crafted resources underpinning common musical objectives whilst focused on prominent EYFS themes. Aimed at all Early Years’ practitioners from class teachers, music specialists, teaching assistants, playgroup leaders to EAL and SEND support teachers.
This song was written for ‘Circle Time’ or ‘Emotional Literacy’ time – a reflective period during the week when children are faced with objectives regarding their personal, social and emotional development. Inspired by some of the Orff-style circle activities including the ‘cup song’, this was written to encourage children to work as a team. It introduces a rock ’n’ roll walking bass providing a solid, rhythmical underpinning. Children can feel the pulse as they follow the actions which are mirrored through distinctions in pitch (e.g. ‘up’ is sung an octave higher than ‘down’).
Can be used as a stand-alone giant elastic song; as part of a lesson on prepositions; as part of a physical lesson developing muscular strength and body awareness or as Song 7 in our 30-minute music and movement session.
Each song includes:
1) A comprehensive lesson plan
-highlighting EYFS and Music objectives covered
-directions on classroom management
-recommended list of props/visual aids
-ideas for Extended learning
-inclusive planning for children with EAL/SEND profiles
-different ways to deliver the material from Music/EYFS perspectives
-formatted to allow easy cut-and-paste options into planning documents
