Reading CVC Word Puzzles - INITIAL Letter - Reception Class

Looking for fun CVC easy-prep puzzles? These printable phonics games specifically target reading CVC words and initial sounds. They are designed for Reception pupils to practice decoding, blending, and reading skills in an engaging way.
This resource can be used during lessons, in literacy centres, as independent work, homework assignments, homeschooling, substitute lessons or extra reading practice. Students can work individually or in small groups to complete the puzzles.
Differentiation is easy - either use the vowel in a different colour for extra support and provide more than 1 letter for the initial sound as a challenge.

• 3 letters ( the word)
• Challenge 2 extra letters for the initial sound (some of the extra letters are ones that are often confused in the graphic e.g. l and t and some where the sounds can be easily confused e.g. s and z)

• letters underlined that are easily confused if they are the wrong way round such as b, n, u
• notes how to differentiate the activity
• vowels in a different colour to make this easier
• answers for quick self assessment
• patterns for the backs of cards
The resources are in colour and black & white for more printing options.
The letters and pictures are all numbered so it is easy to see which letters go with which puzzle.
If you are also getting the puzzles for the final and middle sound then the different colour frames will help to organize these easily.
