This is a great, engaging activity for a lesson on roman numerals. Skills covered are converting from roman numerals to normal numbers and converting from normal numbers to roman numerals up to 100. Great as an assessment for learning activity.

There are a total of 16 pairs which students have to match the ordinary numbers with the roman numerals. You can ask students to start with the ordinary numbers and convert to roman numerals, or the other way around, depending on what you are working on.

Suggestions for use:

  • Print each set in different colours so they don’t get mixed up
  • laminate for future use
  • Give each student a card and they have to find their matching pair
  • Give a set to students individually for them to match then stick in their books
  • Give to pairs for a collaborative task
  • Have as a station that students move around during lessons.
