Floating and sinking in the outdoors so a fantastic way to investigate this topic. This activity works perfectly as the first lesson for floating and sinking or just as a fun stand-alone lesson on a nice afternoon.

For this activity the children will head outside with a bowl of water to collect natural objects and predict and test whether they float or sink. They can then fill in their table with their results before thinking about reasons behind their results.
