“Let’s Make Some Friends!”
While early education creates an important foundation for academic skills, we know as teachers that that social skills are far more predictive of outcomes into adulthood than early academics.
We are passionate about helping students who have learning difficulties, autism and special needs and hence why we have developed this program and curriculum “Let’s Make Some Friends” to help support these children to build social competence and help give them a great start to life.
This 88 page curriculum explores social skill fundamentals including:
- friendship baics
- conversation skills
- being part of a group
- socio-cognitive skills
- friendship basics
The themes and lessons are practical and include:
- greetings and meeting new people
- understanding emotions/ feelings
- turn taking
- listening
- eye contact
- asking and answering questions
- introducing new topics of conversation and maintaining topics of conversation
- understanding social distance and personal space
- using the right volume when speaking
- dealing with communication breakdowns
- How would you feel activities (building empathy, flexible thinking, understanding and perspectives of others)
- resolving conflicts and compromising
