This spider-themed place value math craftivity adds a touch of fun to your math lessons, whether it’s Halloween season or any time throughout the year. It’s also a fantastic choice for decorating your bulletin board in October, without being exclusively tied to Halloween, making it inclusive for all students. Two versions are available: students can create either a 2-digit or 3-digit number using base ten blocks and affix them to the spider’s body. The spider’s legs present various opportunities for students to demonstrate their place value expertise. After cutting out and attaching the spider legs, it becomes a crafty, hands-on activity that also enhances fine motor skills.
