This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the Saint Peter, particularly focusing on his him denying being an acquaintance of Jesus. It was originally delivered as the second in a series of three collective worship sessions on Saint Peter.

The aims of the session are to consider:
-Peter’s allegiance with Jesus;
-Some of the choices made by Peter towards the end of Jesus’ life;
-Lessons that we can learn to apply to our own lives.

The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides the worship leader and the children through the following journey:
-Recalling prior knowledge about Saint Peter and establishing the basic information about who he was/ what he is known for;
-Understanding how Peter was present at many of Jesus’ miracles;
-Acting out an age-appropriate script which presents the denial of Peter in an accessible and clear way;
-Considering why Peter chose to deny his relationship with Jesus;
-Reflecting on our own spirituality - thinking about times when we have let people down - how did we feel and what could we have done better?
-Participating in related song and prayer.

This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in, it takes around 30 minutes to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session.

The script is provided and links to hymns are included in the PowerPoint as hyperlinks. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the session is included!
