Headteacher Kate Frood and her enthusiastic staff at Eleanor Palmer School in Camden, North London, use calculation games in maths to engage their primary pupils.
Year 3 play ‘Four Rolls to a Hundred’ where in teams they have to roll a die, then choose whether or not they should multiply the number by ten to get as close to 100 as they can.
‘Code Breaking’ challenges Year 6 to establish the value of the word ‘table’ having been given the numeric value of some of the letters.
Later, Year 1 practice their counting on skills in a simple but fun dice game they call ‘Bird Race’.

Thanks for these great ideas
Fantastic ideas and I recognise the woman leading it from when I was at the institute of London - thanks a lot.
