In this teaching resource pupils are taught to count up and down in tenths and are shown that tenths arise from dividing an object into ten equal parts. It also explores dividing one-digit numbers or quantities by ten and how to connect tenths to place value and division by ten (as per the statutory requirements of the new Year 3 programme of study – Number – Fractions).
The resource includes a 45 slide PowerPoint presentation, interactive activities and 3 accompanying worksheets that can be used during the lesson or separately.
