Recommended for UKS2 due to the themes of the lessons. I created these resources as part of a unit on immigration and current affairs. Personally, I used them in Topic/wider curriculum lessons but could be useful for English lessons.
Lesson 1 involves printing off slides and letting children ‘go wild’ around the classroom with post-its writing their ideas and inferences.
Lesson 2 builds on the previous lesson to a persuasive letter about refugees, etc.
Resources include:
Powerpoint ()
Article (from The Guardian - source included in text - based on child refugees)
Additional Shaun Tan reading (from his website explaining his inspiration behind the book)
Please review and let me know if this is useful - even if it is just star rating, I have deliberately posted these resources free as I researched and created the resources using a range of ideas and information from the Internet, I just hope it helps someone and their kids have an amazing lesson!
