Ask students to think critically about the meaning of Augustus’s cigarette metaphor and the communication between Hazel and her parents regarding her eventual passing. Ponder the reason why John Green used this title and how it relates to a Cassius quote from Shakespeare’s famous play, Julius Caesar.
