This is a GCSE lesson, which would normally take around two lessons.
The lesson includes the following content:
-Starter
- Context (Laura’s poem, PTSD, Simon Armitage)
- Independent activities - allowing students to carefully analyse/look at the poem
- Teacher analysis of the poem (normally I would ask students about their own thoughts about each stanzas before showing them the annotations, additionally notes can written on the white board)
- Form/Structure
- Language/Imagery
- Comparing the poem to other poems in the Eduqas anthology
- Themes
