This PowerPoint lesson resource guides the class through the three significant scenes that lead up to the famous trial in Act 4. The focus on Act 3 scenes 3, 4 and 5 allows the class to undestand the dramatic techniques demonstrated by Shakespeare as he confirms the villain and the victim prior to the bond trial. Context is considered as the villainy of Shylock is developed more fully, and the language of power and defeat are explored, in particular in Act 3 scene 3. The lesson closes with a set of exam-style questions on the presentation of the character of Antonio. Ideal for students studying for GCSE with OCR, Edexcel or AQA.
