This is a bundle of activities based on the picture book The Shy Coconut. The activities encourage children to practise reading skills such as inference, prediction and sequencing. Additional activities include worksheets on changing the ending of the story, possessive apostrophes, labelling and describing characters. A visual word bank and posters of objects and characters in the story are also available.

Returning from lock down we were introducing short lessons to build stamina. My theme for the morning was coconuts, after introdcing coconuts, facrts etc, making coconut ice, we discussed this short book, and the pupils really enjoyed the comic strip and changing the story aspects, gradually building this in to a longer activity. very positive outcome.
