Pupils read the model instructions about how to catch an ogre, and then examine its features; then write their own instructions using the templates provided. Pupils can research and create the instructional text about one of the faeries from Arthur Spiderwick’s field guide, such as a brownie, boggart, goblin, dwarf, griffin, kelpie, unicorn or troll. These activities can be carried out over several lessons.
