A academically challenge and fun, creative scheme exploring two of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s most popular works: The Yellow Wallpaper and The Giant Wistaria.

The Yellow Wallpaper: This is a highly polished and engaging scheme of 8 lessons and over 40 slides focusing on contextual factors and impact, language and structural analysis, symbolism, feminist influence and analysing characterisation.

The scheme also comes complete with:

  • Additional reading for the more able/gifted and talented
  • Differentiated resources
  • A reading assessment and feedback material
  • Creative writing tasks
  • Opportunities for individual or group presentations
  • Extracts for close language analysis

The Giant Wistaria: is a creative scheme of three lessons and 15 slides designed to analyse language choices, characterisation, and how structural choices can shock a reader.

This scheme focuses on contextual factors and the limitations on women, the impact of the time shifts as well as symbolism, foreshadowing and how to analyse complex structural choices.

Each lesson has differentiation, challenge, and fun activities. I use all of these resources in my own teaching and they are always a big hit with students!
