Translation Race - KS3 Town

This activity can be used for either French or Spanish at KS3. Students are given 5 sentences in English on the topic of town to translate into the target language in increasing difficulty. They must work in groups or pairs to translate them one at a time getting them checked by you and correcting as quickly as possible. Full instructions are included in the activity. This activity is fantastic for developing students writing and proof reading skills and for addressing common mistakes in an engaging fashion. Could be extended by asking students to pick a sentence and extending it as far as they can. Makes a good plenary task.
