Turn a list into a beautiful description.
Ask your students to think about and visualise a coastline scene or show them picturesque seaside views and ask them to describe what they see.
Ask them to start with a list of key things, using words and phrases, and then ask them to use that list to develop their description.
An example is shown below to inspire them.
- Clouds
- Sky
- Reflections
- Colours
- Light effects
- Yachts
- Slow movement
- Rocks
- Soft colours
- Trees
- Buildings beyond
- Distant view – splodges
- Years the buildings have been there
- Imagining someone far off in the building
- How it fits in with the landscape
- Harmony
- The observer’s satisfied reaction.
