Unit of Work - Geography - Meerkat Mail

This is a Year 2 unit of work for Geography based around the book Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett.
It includes 4 lessons on:

1. Can I name and locate the continents of the world?
2. Can I name and locate the oceans of the world?
3. Can I find out where Sunny is from?
4. Can I find hot and cold places near Sunny?

It covers the KS1 national curriculum for:

• Identify the location of hot and cold areas of the world in relation to the Equator and the North and South Poles
• name and locate the world’s 7 continents and 5 oceans
• use world maps, atlases and globes to identify the United Kingdom and its countries, as well as the countries, continents and oceans studied at this key stage
