In 1945 women prisoners in concentration camps in south-western Poland and southern Germany were forced to walk until they died either from neglect or from acts of violence. The fact that some women actually survived is nothing short of a miracle. The Helmsbrechts Death Marches were, sadly, only one of many such incidents.
