A simple notes page on word order in German covering Verb as 2nd Idea, TMP, Sports in a sentence and Boot Conjunctions. This was created for my set 6 in year 10, and in order to keep things simple for them, I refrained from confusing them further with separable verbs, hence sports was tackled the way it was. I used this with associated exercises on word order taken from the text book we were using.

OK as far as it goes, though it seems odd to use OVS as your prime example of inversion; perhaps questions should be mentioned first? Your traditional rule 1 about "second position" could be given more teeth by adding that anything other than the subject at the beginning of a statement means the verb has to come next and the subject after it. Your point about sports is really that they behave rather like "separable" prefixes, even though they are never actually written together with inf or pp.
