Wounds by Michael Longley

Lesson one shows students the context of Northern Ireland and a how ‘The Troubles’ impacted Longley. It also gives students an introduction to the poem and by completing various tasks.

Lesson 2 analyses the poem in more detail in terms of both language and structure. It allows students to form their own opinion of the meaning of the poem through probing questions.

Both of these lessons were used for remote learning but can easily be used in the classroom also.
