Writing - Season Poetry - Autumn - Nature Walk - Lesson 2 - KS1/KS2

With the National Curriculum in mind, I have created this season-based lesson. As reinforced by the National Curriculum, children should experience high-quality discussions on a wide range of poems and learn the poetry tools to create their own.

The season focus for this lesson is autumn. Many detailed pictures and videos are attached of fallen leaves, nature walks/hikes, autumnal spices, bonfires, deciduous trees, and camps. A few teaching slides with a range of autumnal leaves (aspen, ash, sycamore, oak, apple, white poplar, birch, beech, field maple, crack willow, and hawthorn). With more of a focus on the most common leaves (sycamore, ash, and oak).

Also discussed in the lesson; What do people do in Autumn? Have you been on a nature walk?

Included in this pack is a fully editable PowerPoint with a learning objectives and and task to recite the class poem to perform. There are 21 slides teaching slides and pictures/videos. The task for this lesson is to complete a leaf worksheet that includes drawing the leaf and describing how the leaf looks like. Ideally children will go out and explore the outdoors to choose a leaf.

Learning Objective:

To explore autumn leaves
