Writing to Argue Booklet (PDF)

This booklet will help students to think critically about a topic, consider multiple perspectives and develop a coherent argument.  This skill enhances students’ ability to analyse information, identify logical connections and make reasoned judgements.

Writing to argue is a skill in which students learn to present points logically, support their arguments with evidence and address counter arguments.  These skills are essential not only for academia, but for life.

Mr L’s 14 page booklet includes explanation, exercises, quiz and answers. It also includes an A4 poster that is a useful aide memoire for students to remember the features of writing to argue. This booklet is estimated to last for 2 x 1 hour lessons.
