Year 2 Autumn Term Week 4 Addition and subtraction of money.

This is a 5 day set of lessons to help a Year 2 class to learn more about the addition and the subtraction of money. The lessons all start with a 10 minute mental warm up session. This is followed by a whole class, interactive lesson on money. The lessons finish with useful suggestions about how the class can be taken forward using differentiated challenges.

Autumn Term

Lesson 1: Week 4

 how to add several numbers together.

Lesson 2: Week 4
Title Addition and Subtraction of Money
Learning Objective:  solve money problems
 recognise coins
 add a one-digit number to a two-digit number without crossing the tens.




Lesson 3: Week 4
Title Addition and Subtraction of Money
Learning Objective:  solve money problems and give change
 subtract a one-digit number from a two-digit number
 subtract a one-digit number from a twenties number crossing 20
 make decisions if to use a + or –.

Lesson 5: Week 4
Title Addition and Subtraction Strategies and Money
Learning Objective:  understand the value of money
 find strategies for finding equal amounts of money.
