This three-week unit teaches Year 2 children about the features of traditional tales. They will begin by reading the story of The Ugly Duckling (which can be sourced for free on the Kindle app using the link provided) and discuss the feelings of various characters. Children will learn to use adjectives, expanded nouns phrases, compound sentences and dialogue as well as revise and apply different punctuation rules. To end the unit, children have the opportunity to plan and write their own fables.
