These journals have been developed for the Summer Block 1 unit linked to White Rose Maths for Shape, focusing on angles around a point, on a straight line and within compound shapes as well as accuracy of drawing and 2 lessons on 3-D shape and polygons.
Children need an opportunity to explore their conceptual and procedural understanding in alternative methods that are not always directly from teacher guidance or classroom based activities like worksheets.
There are a selection of different journal questions and prompts that allow the children to explore the learning in depth and allows pupils to explain their understanding through their own reasoning, proof and explanation.
These journal prompts are created for each of the different steps within White Rose Maths but could be used to supplement other schemes of work and general class teaching.
