This is a Year 6 PSHE and Citizenship lesson about relationships, which focuses on developing assertiveness in a range of social situations. Children will discuss why being assertive is such an important quality, before experimenting with strategies for handling problems more assertively. A paired or small group roleplay task is also provided to reinforce the learning from the lesson.

The lesson is aimed at Year 6 but could also be used across upper Key Stage 2. It is fully resourced with planning and relevant supporting materials.

The timing of the lesson is approximately 45 – 60 minutes, but, depending on your PSHE timetabling, it can also be easily split into a pair of thirty-minute sessions.

Includes:
*Teaching PowerPoint
*Full lesson planning, linked to UK PSHE and Citizenship curriculum
