This resource contains 6 ‘slow writes’. As the name suggests, children slow their writing down, and are tasked with including specific skills within each sentence.
Obviously this is not how we would want our children to think about writing in terms of extended pieces of writing (it is by its nature completely prescriptive), but it is a useful way of getting children to think carefully about their understanding of specific skills.
This can be used to aid writing (I have found it useful for SEND children when beginning their writing), but primarily it can be used to practise SPaG (GAPs) understanding.
There are 6 slow writes included, enough for one a week fr a half-term (which is how I use this resource). The slow writes give children a genre and setting to write about, and then the list of instructions for writing. There is a full example of using each skill using the same genre but with a different setting, so children are aided in their writing.
