Starter: break the code
Match picture cards to names of places
Ruler game: ask two students to come to the front, name the picture in French and see who points at the correct picture the fastest. Other students can also participate in pairs, print a copy for this task.
grammar task: students learn how to say 'to a place ’ in French
Multi-choice answers. Prepare A, B, C cards to allow all students to take part.
Cross the river final task: flashcards can be laminated and printed, place the cards on the floor in a straight line.
Ask a student to ‘cross the river’, the student steps besides the laminated card and name the name of the place, or make a sentence for higher ability ones, ie: je vais a la patinoire. The rule is that he/she can continue if he/she can name the place correctly otherwise he/she ‘drowns’ and is replaced by another student. Cross the river plenary can be adapted depending on the ability of students. (add a reason, an opinion, use the past tense)
A vocabulary mat is also included in this lesson for weaker students.
