This is a new set of assessment tasks on Othello - please see my other resources for Pack 1. A set of 13 assessment tasks, following the same structure as the AQA A Level Paper 1 (Love Through the Ages), Section A, Q1 sample materials, all on Othello. This is for the new specification (7712). The assessments focus on the presentation of varying types of love across a range of key scenes in the play. This makes them useful as practice exam material, and/or for recapping key scenes in the play. Each task has a question based on the presentation of [aspect of love] in response to a statement, followed by an extract.

After discounting all extracts and questions used in AQA’s sample and past papers, and considering the length of extract and question styles used by AQA, I came up with six potential extracts and questions AQA could use this summer. This resource consists of those extracts, each with a question, in the style of the AQA GCSE English Literature exam. Please note that these are purely predictions and I have no advance knowledge of the content of the exam!

A template to test the students’ knowledge of each of the poems from the ‘Power and Conflict’ poems in AQA. Meant as a revision resource so both the student and teacher can see what they remember and need to revise. Also included are answers to the poems in the powerpoint.

19 Lessons for the first book of ‘The Hunger Games’. Includes many different skills including opportunities to be creative by creating a boardgame and character outfits. My students loved designing these and presenting them to the class. Some success criteria may need adding/adapting. Some table names were included for differentiation so these will need to suit your class, Lessons could be extended or shortened by watching scenes from the film.

Blood Brothers Revision Workbook

Blood Brothers Revision Workbook

This workbook is designed to guide students through independently re-reading the play and making notes. It breaks the play down across twelve revision sessions, each of which has three parts: Direction of which pages to read. A set of comprehension questions on this part of the play. A choice of further revision tasks, encouraging students to further reflect on the scenes they have explored. Many of these tasks include challenge questions to encourage higher order thinking. There is also a relevant exam question provided for each of the twelve sessions. I created this because many of my students don’t really know where to start with independent revision, and I also want to see evidence that they’ve read back through the text. It could also be used in school revision sessions. The page numbers used relate to a copy of the play that is available online (link within the resource) but could be adapted for students’ own physical copies of the text.

This booklet contains a series of 13 sessions, designed for students to work through ‘A Christmas Carol’ independently. Each session would last around two hours, and they can be easily broken down or adapted depending on your students’ needs. Useful for setting independent work (e.g. if a student is out of lesson), homework, or directed revision. Students are guided through which pages to read each time (referencing a freely available online copy of the novel, in pdf form so it could also be printed) followed by questions based on comprehension and interpretation. There are then a series of other tasks to ensure students engage with the section they’ve read on a deeper level.
