Space themed addition word problems for Reception or Year 1. There are a couple of examples on a power point which can be shown to the class and the children can work together to work out the answers. Animations make the word problem, and how to work out the answer visual. Then there are differentiated questions (answers below 10 and answers 10-20) to be printed and completed by the children with a self assessment area on them. At the end there is further ‘mastery’ type questions, which allow for discussion and are clearly explained using pictures to support. There is a mastery question to be printed and completed by the children also.

A Christmas themed resource to support teaching repeating patterns (2 and 3 repeats) Power point activity for the interactive whiteboard where children need to complete the repeating patterns. They will develop the skills to identify, describe and continue patterns, Differentiated cut and stick activity where children can then independently complete repeating patterns and also make their own. Children will practise the skills to identify, describe and continue patterns, The cutting also develops fine motor skills. The patterns have pictures missing both at the end and in the middle and the resources include patterns with 2 and 3 repeats.

4 mini beast themed subtraction differentiated activities Reception/ Year 1 activity 1- pre- algebra/ missing number activity, ‘mini beast secret code’ - children use the pictures to solve the number sentences activity 2- differentiated subtraction number sentence cards for children to pick and solve. activity 3- differentiated mini beast themed word problems activity 4- plan and resources for practical subtraction activity - bees. Opportunities for demonstrating inverse operation as extension for this task. Also includes bee number cards 0 to 20 which children can order, as well as using for activity 4 (ELG number) These can be used as adult led activities, class work, or in continuous provision (if modelled first)

It is relevant and aligned to the Development Matters age bands and the new curriculum. Activities include basic measuring, weighing, pattern making and building as well as shape activities. Can be sent out during school closures, to support remote learning or as a homework or home learning grid.

In this resource you will find differentiated planning and resources for Reception, Nursery or Year One. They are challenges and activities to be used on a snowy day or during a winter topic. Some work best when the children are playing in the snow outside. This would be suitable for remote learning. 12 home learning activities covering different areas of maths in a Christmas festive theme. Activities are all fun and practical and can be done easily at home with items commonly found in a house. There is information for parents to help them facilitate the activities too. Activities include baking, making shape pictures, counting decorations. Areas covered include: number recognition counting skills shape, space and measure work writing numerals I asked children to choose 2 activities per week to complete and put an observation on Tapestry but you could alter this to suit your needs. Good to send out if children are away, isolating or if the class is shut, or just as regular home learning to support work done in class.

Phase 2 graphemes on power point slides ready to be printed A4 and laminated and used as flashcards for all kinds of phonics games or display. They are winter or snow flake themed. Great to support reading, writing or oral phonics work. Phase 2 grapheme handwriting support cards. A star shows children where to start to form the letter. These can be printed and used as worksheets or laminated and used with drywipe pens. They are great for putting on the writing table or in the provision for all kinds of practical phonics fun e.g. making graphemes from play dough. Phase 3 ‘oa’ presentation and reading activity + phase 3 digraph bingo Fun presentation to teach Phase 3 ‘oa’ (as in goat) with activities. There is a recap Phase 3 graphemes bingo boards for a starter, reading activities within the presentation and an active reading football game which is differentiated for reading words or sentences which include ‘oa’. Note- to complete the reading activity you will need a ball and some space e.g. a hall or outdoors.
