As we study A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, we analyse the beginning of Stave 3 and look at how The Ghost of Christmas Present is introduced to us and how the use of language affects the readers’ interpretations of the character. Moreover, we look at the use of imagery in the description of the Christmas activity taking place throughout the city as the Ghost and Scrooge travel through the streets. Fully differentiated throughout.

Includes worksheets on Poppies, Remains, War Photographer, Kamikaze, The Charge of the Light Brigade, Storm on the Island, Exposure and Bayonet Charge. AQA English Language Paper 1 lesson that focuses on structure, in particular creating openings and closings to narratives, or beginnings and endings. A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that focuses on the opening and closing of narrative pieces, analyses the use of a cyclical structure in a text and asks students to evaluate a text or film they are familiar with. It uses film clips to help students think about the use of structure within the texts they are analysing and studying.

This lessons helps students to understand the true horror and terror of the First World War and life in the trenches,as well as the thoughts and feelings of soldiers going over the top. We look at how a writer can be begin and end a descriptive piece in order to have the most impact on the reader.
