KS1 2016 SATs GPS Gap Analysis Grid (including tests and conversion tables) - SATs Prep

(0)
These are excel spreadsheets Gap Analysis documents for the 2016 Year Two SATs Papers for GPS. The sheet totals up the scores automatically and each child’s final score changes colour to reflect their ability. If their total score for a subject goes green, it means they would have passed the 2016 SATs with that score. If it goes Green with a yellow font, it means that child would have achieved a ‘More Able’ score for that tested subject. I have also included an instructions and document page, linking to a freely available copy of each test, mark scheme and instructions. Additionally, I have included a link to the conversion tables from RAW Score to Scaled Score. All a teacher has to do is enter their children’s names and enter the 0’s, 1’s, 2’s or 3’s for each question, which also change colour too for a visual reference. I recommend that a teacher should enter ‘N’ if a child did not attempt that question. This gives an idea of who is not even attempting certain questions, not just whether they got the question wrong. The sheets are set up for 32 pupils but more can be added/deleted and instructions are on the first page/sheet. Some cells are locked/protected in this document but the parts that you need to insert yourself are editable. This is so that the formulas/algorithms do not break and render the spreadsheet’s functionalities as broken. I take requests for Gap Analysis Grids. Please leave feedback if you like this resource as I am planning to produce more for each SATs paper going forward, as well as CGP Practice Papers. Please remember to rate this resource as I made this to save teachers time. Thank-you.

Included is: - An example modeled newspaper article, complete with headline, text, pictures, advertisement and Year Six standard Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (in pdf and .doc format) - A blank template. I've set this so that the text automatically flows into the other text boxes as children write more. This will save a lot of teacher time in lessons. Helpful to allow a bit more independence! Compare diary entries (KS2)

Two diary entries based on the same event (visiting the new school wildlife/garden area) One is basically written with very little attempt at adding detail, high-level punctuation and complex sentences. The other is of end of KS2 Standard. I used this activity to get the children to realize that as teachers, we see pieces of text about the same event but the quality of the texts varies drastically. Which would they rather be writing? Which would I rather be reading? Why? Explain why one is better than the other. Files are uploaded as Publisher, PDF and Word.

Writing and comparing Information Texts (including 2xA3 VCOP'd poster version)

(0)
Two information texts about the same subject (volcanoes). One is significantly better written than the other. A good activity to get children to compare and contrast written text, particularly good for getting children to spot grammar features and high-level punctuation. The details are not glaringly obvious but word choice is markedly improved in the better version, as well as more detail having been added. A VCOP'd poster version has been included to display the features in your class. Also excellent for getting children to summarize a text.
