• how Dickens uses the ghosts to help Scrooge change his attitudes and behaviour in the novel as a whole.
The influence of all 4 ghosts is analysed in detail. The response is broken up into clear sections with an introduction and conclusion.

A timeline revision activity for A Christmas Carol that asks students to offer 3 layers of analysis for 13 key Scrooge quotations to help track his transformation in the novel from a solitary miser to a redeemed philanthropist.

I have been through the text and come up with 6 predictions about extracts that might come up in 2025.
Students read each extract and complete the planning grid for each. Ideal to use in a final revision lesson.
Also includes a planning resource which offers 3 levels of differentiation to help guide students on how to structure a full length response on the following 4 themes/topics: children, materialism, ghosts, Christmas.
Tier 1 difficulty (I do): Big idea, topic sentences and quotations are provided. Students add the analysis of the quotations.
Tier 2 difficulty (We do): Students must choose 2 quotations to support each topic sentence and analyse the quotations.
Tier 3 difficulty (You do): Students have to generate the big idea, the topic sentences, 2 quotations a paragraph and the quotation analysis.
A sheet to help students plan a response to the following AQA 1-9 question on Romeo and Juliet which meets the criteria for A01, A02, A03:

A 45 slide lesson that teaches students how to identify and comment on the effect of semantic fields in the short extract that is used for AQA Paper 1 Question 2 and Paper 2 Question 3.
There are 6 extracts to work through as students develop the skill to identify a pattern of words within each extract.
Commenting on a semantic field allows students to make a more sophisticated comment about the effect of language than merely commenting on individual words in isolation.
5 Exams written in the style of the new 9-1 AQA GCSE examination for Romeo and Juliet.
For the exam on the theme of love there is a model answer for students to annotate.
For the questions on the other themes, there is a 9 step grid for students to follow.
I have also attached a generic writing frame for responding to any character or theme to help students with the 9 step method.
A 76 slide lesson aimed at lower ability students which guides them through 30 key quotations from Macbeth.
Each quotation is introduced with a prompt question. The next slide then explains the quotation. This process continues for all 30 quotations.
There is a knowledge retention test worksheet attached to check how much knowledge students have retained.
6 revision cards covering 6 quotations linked to the theme of supernatural in A Christmas Carol. The detailed explanation of the quotations are linked to the 3 A0s and authorial methods are underlined.
