Macbeth as a character who changes

(0)
A range of resources to support the teaching of how Macbeth’s character changes across the play. Includes a timeline to complete to track Macbeth’s changes. Includes a revision sheet with high level analysis of 13 key quotations linked to the AOs. Includes a simple writing frame for a low ability to help them write about Macbeth as a character who changes to grade 4 or grade 5 level. Include a list of key quotations (with brief explanations) to pick from to help them write about Macbeth at different points of the text. Includes a high-level direct knowledge statement which I explain and regularly encourage them to keep referring back to when it comes to discussing Shakespeare’s authorial message in the play at the end of each analytical paragraph.

AQA Paper 1 Question 3 (Structure) Lesson using opening to Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie.

This lesson is focused on Paper 1 Question 3 (AQA - commenting on the structure of the whole text). This seems to be a popular topic for interviews at the moment. I have used a very short extract with lots of shifts which widen and narrow the focus - Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie. Starter: Students rate their understanding of structural devices. Construct: Students try to identify narrative shifts in focus in the text. Main: Students look in more detail at the narrative shifts in the text. This activity is in the form of an A3 table and is differentiated. Bronze Level: Identify what is happening during each shift. Silver: Apply structural devices. Gold: Comment on the effect of structural devices. I have also included the lesson plan. For a more challenging class, students can use the extract from the opening of Kite Runner.
