A complete English lesson for introducing conjunctions. The lesson explains what conjunctions are and when to use them. The lesson focuses on and, but, so and because and demonstrates how to use each of these conjunctions. The lesson is interactive. Children must select the correct conjunction to use in sentences and select the correct ending for sentences and make sure that the sentence makes sense. The lesson includes three sets of differentiated worksheets with three worksheets in each set. A number bond word problem activity for making 10. This Maths activity can support children to learn and practise number bonds to make 10. The activity shows children all of the different number bonds for making ten. Each number bond has a word problem eg I have ten dogs, 5 of them are playing in the garden. How many dogs are in the kennel? Children can solve these problems using objects and pictorial representations and record their number sentence on whiteboards. A phonics activity for practising and revising digraphs and trigraphs. Children are shown the focus sound and then real words and alien words with the focus sound missing. Children can practise writing real and alien words on their whiteboards using the focus sounds. The activity could be used during phonics lessons, as an intervention for any children requiring extra support or in the lead up to the phonics screening. A good activity to support children to recognise sounds plus spell and read words using digraphs and trigraphs. A phonics activity workbook covering vowel digraphs and trigraphs. Each new sound has three workbook pages - one to practise writing real words, one to identify alien words and one to complete a sentence using the focus sound in a word. There is a space on the sentence writing page for children to draw a picture to match the sentence therefore showing their understanding of the sentence. This activity workbook could be completed as part of a group, independently or could be sent home as home learning/homework. I have also used this workbook as Early Morning Work for children to practise their phonics. The workbook supports children to become more confident with each focus sound and as the activities are repeated for each new sound the children can become more independent when completing the workbook. An English activity focusing on capital letters, when to use them and what they look like. The PowerPoint shows the children all capital letters and the children then practise writing the capital letters. Children then write the capital letter to match the lower case letter. The Capital Letter Monster then eats some of the capital letters from the alphabet and children have to identify which letters have been eaten and write the capital letters on their whiteboards. Children are then shown sentences with missing capital letters and have to fill in the missing letters. The children will enjoy the fun element of having a monster eating the capital letters and I have used this in class when children have forgotten capital letters in their written work. The activity cards cover telling the time, drawing the time, working out an hour or half an hour more or less, finding the odd time out and problem solving activities. These cards can be laminated for use during Maths lessons or independent activities or can be printed on a smaller scale to be completed and stuck in Maths books. Aimed at KS1 children.

A set of ten pictures and accompanying sentences introducing new vocabulary. For each picture children have to identify a word within the sentences for example the word that describes the cakes or the word that tells you what the bird is doing. Once they have identified the word and talked about it’s meaning they then need to find other words that they could use instead for example they could replace large with huge, oversized. For the next activity children need to read a sentence and talk about what they think one of the words within the sentence means. This activity PowerPoint introduces children to new vocabulary and encourages them to use the picture and the whole sentence to discuss what they think words mean. For some children they will be able to read the sentences independently however for other children I will read the sentence to them or with them depending on their ability. A music activity to help children to learn to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the ocarina. The children first practise playing the different notes with each note having a name to help children to remember them. Children then practise playing the first line of the song on their ocarina, then the first two lines followed by playing the next two lines and then playing the whole song. Children of all ages and abilities can learn to play the ocarina and have great fun making music.

For one activity children need to identify a word within the sentence for example the word that describes the size of the book and then find alternative words that could be used instead. For the second activity children need to think about what they think a word means using the picture and the whole sentence to support their thinking and are then given a picture to draw linked to that word for example draw something that is precious to you. A set of 14 colour coded multiplication tests to test for quick recall of multiplications to x12. Each test has thirteen questions to complete and there are two tests for each colour of the rainbow. Each child also has a blank rainbow to colour, they can colour each band once they are secure on that set of multiplications eg red multiplications are x2 and x10 therefore once children are secure at x2 and x10 they would colour the red band of the rainbow. The aim is for children to colour the whole rainbow. These tests cover multiplications from x0 to x12 starting with x2 and x10 and ending with a test of all multiplications. The tests can be used with a timer to check how secure children are with multiplication recall. Children enjoy working their way through the colours of the rainbow and if not secure can repeat tests again and try to beat their previous score. Suitable for Key Stage 1 children and Lower Key Stage 2 children.

The aim of the game is to collect three cards to win. This game introduces children to a range of adjectives and encourages children to use these adjectives in sentences.
