This PowerPoint presentation is ideal resource to teach your students about this important chapter of history that has remained silent for far too long.
I made it after attending international workshops on this subject in 2017 and it contains main information about the topic, describing the main killing sites with quality photos and maps.
Between 1941 and 1944, Nazi SS and German police forces, German military units, and locally recruited collaborators killed more than 2 million Jews residing in the Soviet Union (borders of 1941) in mass shooting operations.
This practice of extermination has come to be designated as the “Holocaust by bullets” or “genocide by mass shooting.”
Note: Although I’ve tried to be sensitive in the selection oh photos for the presentation, due the graphic nature of the subject material, some students
may find few photos I have included in the presentation troublesome. If you want, you can delete them or subtitute with new ones, as you prefer.

This is a valuable resource for teachers looking to educate their students about the geography of the former Yugoslavia. As I noticed there are lack of these kind of maps, I designed few myself.
This product includes both blank and labeled versions (countries and capital cities) of a map of the region.
The breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s led to the creation of several new independent states, each with their own unique history and culture.
This product is suitable for use in a geography or history classroom, and is perfect for teachers who want to provide their students with a hands-on and interactive learning experience.
These are particularly great for AP Human Geography, AP US History, AP European History, and AP World History - though any humanities course will benefit.

Looking for an engaging no-prep station activity? This is one of my favorites!
This resource contains five Real-Life Historical War Love Stories (from the 20th century and one story about the Ukrainian couple living and surviving in Kyiev today).
Analyzing the stories of how the couples met, students at the same time learn about historical events (wars or battles) that directly affected their relationship and changed their lives forever. Each life story comes with a special short information sheet about the historical battle or war in which the couples participated, so that students can better understand the historical context of the time in which the couples lived.
Students do not need to have any prior knowledge of these historical topics. The main idea is to encourage them, through reading interesting love stories, to think about how wars change the lives of people around the world.
Best of all, there is no prep work! All you have to do is print the stories, hang the information sheets around the class, split the students into groups, assign the two worksheets per group and have students rotate to each station and complete tasks. I promise they will love this activity.
Don’t like station work? Don’t worry - you can easily have students work individually, in pairs, as a class, or assign as homework!

As someone who studied** Balkan history and Balkan conflicts**, I’ve designed few presentations on that topic, as I found out that many teachers have struggles to cover this topic because of its complexity. That’s why I tried to summarize all relevant events, in chronological order, selecting high resolution photos, charts and maps, in order to help you and your student understand background of the wars, its impact on civilians (war crimes, refugees, ethnic cleansing) and all other important details.
Every presentation contains additional resources:
Word document (6-10 pages) with detail explanation of all relevant events and key figures, that can help teachers/researches build up their knowledge about these historical events, saving them days of researching.
Editable Review Activity with questions you can use to review students knowledge after a unit, as a resource for discussion, homework assignment or simply a guide for students to organize information covered in the presentation.
