This film-focused resource enables teachers and pupils to explore what it means to be part of the Commonwealth, gaining insights into the culture and identity of Commonwealth countries and reflecting on life in Scotland in the lead-up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Activities centre on five carefully chosen films from across the Commonwealth that will engage and excite pupils. This resource immerses the class in the world of Disney’s Moana 2 using
sounds and music as stimuli to learn about the main characters in the film
and allow learners to demonstrate and develop their musical abilities using
collaborative, creative and fun activities while drawing on rhythmic concepts
and styles.
With links to both the music and KS1 maths curriculums, the Bring the Beat
activity sheet first guides learners through the profiles of the characters,
who have been assigned a particular musical sound, which can be
recreated through body percussion.
Learners then work individually to decode a pattern of character images on
the activity sheet into a series of sounds, creating a musical sequence that
can be performed to the class. In addition, they can identify and extend the
pattern of sounds in each sequence.
Working in groups where appropriate, learners also devise their own
musical key with a new set of images and corresponding sounds, allowing
them to make a new musical sequence and create their own repeating body
percussion pattern. This can then be performed to the class as they try to
guess what sound comes next in the sequence.
A Film Guide that looks at the film, Pride. This resource contains before and after watching discussion questions, a debate-led activity and is useful for exploring topics including History, Citizenship and Politics in addition to highlighting themes surrounding democracy and rights, racism and prejudice, equality, British cinema and campaigns & revolutions.

Into Film has produced an assembly resource that looks at some of the problems young people may encounter on their first day at a new school, and how to overcome them.
Topics included in the assembly are:

Into Film has partnered with BBC Learning to produce a new resource themed around the Ten Pieces project, which aims to inspire a love of classic musical in primary school pupils.
The Ten Pieces project invites children to listen to ten pieces of classical music and to creatively respond to them.
This extensive resource is aimed at KS1 and KS2 (or equivalent) Primary pupils, and consists of an in-depth look at the use of three of the Ten Pieces in films, including Fantasia and Johnny English Reborn, with activity sheets, instructional videos, case studies and teachers' notes provided.

Annie: The gift that costs nothing resource contains flexible lessons plans, PowerPoint presentations and teachers' notes to easily incorporate Annie (2014) into your lessons and work with the film as a stimulus for creative writing, storytelling and character and theme analysis. Focusing on key areas from the exam specifications, students will be introduced to ideas about the film, analysing selected sequences and looking at film stills. Teachers are encouraged to use these activities before, and immediately after, screening the entire film.
