This activity explicitly looks at the key modal verbs in French such as 'pouvoir', 'devoir', 'savoir' and 'vouloir' in the present tense in step by step format alongside explicit explanations of each concept. Concepts such as the use of negatives, question words and the use of 'depuis' and 'ca fait .. que' are also incorporated in this activity as they are concepts that are greatly associated with the present tense. This activity is ideal for learners of IGCSE level. There is also a colourful handout available which displays the conjugation of each verb in the present tense and a wordsearch! This bundle contains all four editions regarding parts of the body and ailments and it is geared at Key Stage 2 level. The outline of each part is as follows: Part 1: Masculine parts of the body and j’ai mal au Le dos Le ventre Le bras Differentiation: Le genou Part 2: Feminine parts of the body and ‘j’ai mal a la’ La jambe La pouce La gorge Differentiation: La cheville Part 3: Parts of the body which begin with a vowel or the silent ‘h’ and ‘j’ai mal a l’’ L’epaule L’estomac L’orteil Differentiation: L’aisselle Part 4: Parts of the body in the plural form and ‘j’ai mal aux’ Les dents Les pieds Les oreilles Differentiation: Les genoux Due to its complexity, it is advisable to introduce the different genders of the parts of the body as well as the grammar, week by week. Go through the powerpoint regarding the parts of the body with the students. You could start with the game ‘Jacques a dit’ (Simon says). For each week, review the parts of the body, then introduce the new parts and then the new grammar. Get the students to colour in the worksheets. On the first worksheet, get the students to colour in the letters. Then they cut out the pictures and labels and stick them correctly onto the first sheet they coloured in. There are differentiated worksheets for this. If you have time at the end of the lesson, you can play the quiz with the class. There are differentiated questions with answers!! Drill practice using the perfect subjunctive in French for those who find the formation difficult. This is the final stage as tenses beyond this level are incredibly rare. This stage is the toughest level, however this activity primarily focuses on the perfect tense in subjunctive format in all possible formation of regular and irregular verbs, which also include number and gender. This activity also revises Stage 8: The present subjunctive, Stage 7: The past conditional, Stage 6: The conditional, Stage 5: The future, Stage 4: The pluperfect tense, Stage 3: The imperfect tense, Stage 2: The perfect tense, Stage 1: The present tense. This activity is carried out in eight stages: Stage 1: Common basic irregular verbs: Aller, Faire, Avoir, Etre, Boire, Ouvrir, Prendre, Croire Stage 2: Regular -er verbs: Parler, Manger, Regarder, Partager, Entrer, Porter, Essayer, Envoyer Stage 3: Regular -ir verbs: Finir, Ralentir, Choisir, Grandir, Fournir, Batir Stage 4: Regular -re verbs: Vendre, Rendre, Attendre, Perdre, Repondre, Descendre, Entendre, Tendre Stage 5: Irregular -re verbs: Dire, Lire, Mettre, Ecrire, Suivre, Craindre, Comprendre, Inclure Stage 6: Irregular -ir verbs: Voir, Vouloir, Pouvoir, Savoir, Devoir Recevoir Stage 7: More irregular -ir verbs and intransitive verbs (verbs that take 'etre'): Tenir, Venir, Partir, Sortir, Revenir, Mourir Stage 8: Impersonal verbs and sample reflexive verbs: Pleuvoir, Falloir, Valoir, S'agir, Se reposer, S'attendre, Se souvenir It is difficult at times to remember the conjugation of the tenses which is why I have designed these activities as means of becoming deeply acquainted with the conjugation. Upon successfully passing these tests, your level of mastering the tenses in French would closely demonstrate characteristics of A2 level/Pre-University level.

This game is designed for learners in their first year of learning Mandarin Chinese or it can be used in any language under study when learning dates!! Rules of the game: This game would be ideal for up to six players or two teams of students and played with two dice. 1. Whatever player or team rolls the highest number on the dice can move first. 2. After each player or team moves according to the number shown on the dice must say the date to whatever place they land on, on the board. If they say the date correctly in Chinese, they can move on their next go. If they say the date incorrectly or don't know how to say it, they miss their next turn. 3. If a player or team land on a green square, it is a 'lucky square' and they don't have to say that date. If a player lands on his/her birthday or a member of the team's birthday, they don't have to say the date. 4. If a player or team lands on a ladder, they move down the board accordingly or if they land on a snake, they move up the board accordingly. 5. If a player or a team member rolls a double they can take another go, only provided they say the date correctly. 6. The first player or team to reach the end of the year, wins the game!

These resources individually looks at each number in Chinese for numbers 1-10. Each booklet instructs the student how to write each number according to the stroke order and there are also colouring pages for child to colour in and numbers 2-10 reinforces previously learnt numbers. These resources are designed for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2 {P1 - P3 in Northern Ireland} learners, however they can be used for Key Stage 2 {P4 - P7 in Northern Ireland} learners who are learning Mandarin for the very first time. Because Key Stage 1 learners are so very young, and due to Mandarin’s existing complexity, my advice is to introduce each number for each lesson. For example, one lesson, they complete workbook 1 and then the next lesson, complete workbook 2 and so on. Happy teaching and learning!

Reflexive verbs in the perfect tense with/without direct objects

It can be very confusing for learners of French to become accustomed as to whether agreements with reflexive verbs using a direct object is necessary. Although it is very long, however I have designed this powerpoint to facilitate students to become acquainted that no agreement is necessary with reflexive verbs in the perfect tense that use a direct object and when no direct object is present, agreement is necessary. I have done this in step by step form by putting all the nine essential pronouns in order, first of all without a direct object and then in the next slide with a direct object, so that learners can easily understand this concept. This is ideal for learners from Key Stage 3-5 level or adults who are learning this concept for the first time or simply revision. Happy teaching and learning and good luck!
