Hello everyone and welcome! This powerpoint exclusively explores the four different ways of using the four different interrogative words for ‘which’ in French. The first activity revises the demonstrative adjectives which the students could do as a warm-up activity. Subsequently, the powerpoint introduces the four different ways to express ‘which’ in French. As each one is explored, display each poster in the classroom to illustrate each meaning and it is a very resourceful way to make use of the working walls in the classroom. Throughout the powerpoint, the students will be acquainted with the verb ‘acheter’ and its conjugation. The students can note its conjugation as they progress through the powerpoint. When the students begin the production stage of the lesson, they can complete the activity on page 59 of the slide. The activities are differentiated and the students can choose which level best suits them. The answers are provided on the subsequent slides of the powerpoint. There is also a Kahoot quiz available on my account. Key Stage 3 French: Numbers 1-30

(0)
This powerpoint teachers numbers from 1-30 in French. It also reinforces or introduces age and (for the gifted and talented) years in French, in addition to how to express one’s age and when one was born in French, but of course, this part is optional. If you don’t wish to introduce the numbers in the context of age, this is absolutely fine and you can just introduce them non-contextually, i.e. 'Répétez après moi - ‘un’, ‘un’, ‘deux’, ‘deux’, etc. After having introduced the numbers, try out the listening comprehension and it is differentiated into two different levels. For level 1 (lower level), the students choose the correct answer according to the number they hear. For level 2 (higher level), they have a choice of 30 answers to choose from and they can simply colour in the box according to what they hear. There are also follow up activities in this powerpoint such as picture pairs, French mathematics and a wordsearch. There is also a handout available with this resource that you cna print and distribute to the class. There are also four differentiated quizzes on kahoot based on French calculations which reinforces numbers 1-30 and they are defined as follows: Level 1 - Choose the correct answer and they have a minute to answer Level 2 - Choose the correct answer and they have 30 seconds to answer Level 3 - Choose the correct answer and they have only 10 seconds to answer Level 4 - Type the answer in words and they only have 20 seconds to answer The links to all of the quizzes are provided at the end of the powerpoint. When you have finished teaching the numbers and when you feel the students have sufficiently mastered them, get them to complete the reflection slip which is also attached to this resource, so they can reflect on how much they have mastered the numbers. It is titled as ‘Numbers 1-30 - Reflection’. Happy teaching and learning!

French: The subjunctive in a nutshell - Part 1: regular '-er' verbs with outbursts of emotion

Welcome to Part 1 of the subjunctive. As you know, mastering the subjunctive is tricky business and it is more geared towards A-Level French. This activity basically describes one function of the subjunctive in a nutshell and it contains step by step methods as to how to form it. Part 1 solely focuses on how to form regular ‘-er’ verbs in the subjunctive mood alongside expressions of outbursts of emotion. Accompanied with this resource, is a unique workbook, in which the expressions using bursts of emotion are incorporated in the form of a cartoon story where the students search for the expressions used. Before reading the story, I would recommend teaching the vocabulary in the powerpoint and get students to write out sample sentences. There are also subsequent activities, very similar to the ones in the powerpoint. Parts 2-12 of the subjunctive are also available on my online shop, however I still have yet to modify the resources for parts 3-12 and install the workbooks for these parts. The powerpoint lesson in these parts are only available at the moment. Happy teaching and learning!
